Classic Wedding in Delaware

Classic Wedding in Delaware
When we first met Alexandra Bakerian and Daniel Zwiren in July 2019, we were drawn by their instant chemistry.  We’ve had many wedding clients before, but nothing as special as this one. It reminded us of what love is really supposed to look like. Performing for them seemed like natural chemistry. Their romance and our music seemed like an improbable connection. They held their reception at the Hotel DuPont, which held personal significance. Alex’s father was the former president of the Delaware Bankers Association and often hosted events at the iconic downtown establishment, including his retirement party. The hotel’s storied elegance blew Dan away, and Alex agreed. “It’s just a place that, whenever you walk through the door, you feel like you’re going into a different era and time,” she says.

As an architectural icon, Hotel Du Pont has many stories to tell. The hotel remains committed to retaining the warmth and splendor that have made it so highly regarded for almost a century. We had the pleasure to step inside to find ourselves transported back to a time of craftsmanship and courtesy, of ease and elegance, sophistication and style, an era when people knew how to travel in style and expected the very best. Those values are preserved today in our band’s performances we provide each and every guest.

The Authority Band provided by Around Town Entertainment took the stage in the Gold Ballroom. They played “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO to introduce the Bride’s party. Then, they transitioned into “Yeah 3x” by Chris Brown as the Bride and Groom made their first appearance as a married couple. The wedding band then played “Nothing Can Change This Love” by Sam Cooke during the couple’s first dance. Next, the siblings had their own spotlight to “Nobody Knows” by The Lumineers. Finally, the mother and son showed their fancy footwork while the band played “Forever Young”  by Rod Stewart.

We were treated with a charming taste of sophistication with Hotel Du Pont’s gourmet catering options. The modern fare and classic dishes included delectable entrées like Saffron Marinated Chicken, New York Strips, and Bronizo with Shrimp Scampi! For dessert, we were offered decadent plates of Baked Alaska, Bananas Foster, Czarina Parfait and more!

It was a true party, as Authority Band continued to perform hits like “All of Me” by John Legend, “Having a Party” by Sam Cooke, and Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding. At the end of the night, Alex said something memorable- “When I think back to my wedding day, what stands out is just pure classic joy.”

Wild Night at The Skylark 150 150 adam Michaels

Wild Night at The Skylark

Wild Night at The Skylark

Another memorable night!  Andrew Jones and Jennifer Rice invited us out to play at their April 2019 wedding reception at The Skylark in New York City. Set thirty floors high up in the heart of Midtown, Around Town Entertainment’s jazz trio kicked off the night by belting out classic piano melodies. Guests paired each bar bite with the Skylark’s signature cocktails including The Coco. Also, the Love Bird cocktail special was quite delicious with it’s mix of Hennessy, Creme de Cassis, Villa Sandi Prosecco Passion Fruit topped with edible flowers. The panoramic views of the Hudson River, Times Square, and The Empire State Building added the perfect touch before the sun set for the evening.

After cocktails, everyone moved into the Main Lounge for the reception. The After Party Band provided by Around Town Entertainment started by performing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Ashford and Simpson for the Bride and Groom’s entrance. Then, the wedding band played a rendition of “Lucky” by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. Very appropriate for the couple’s first dance! Next, the parents shared the dance floor with their son and daughter while the wedding band played “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

Drinks and food at The Skylark are as distinctive as the space itself! The pre-dishes included a variety of small plates – perfect starters for the evening. Guests were treated with an elite dining experience. Over dinner, we heard comments like “best I’ve ever had” and “out of this world.” The bride and groom and family were treated like royalty! And of course, no wedding or birthday, would be complete without cake!

The couple shared their first slice while guests sang along to “L.O.V.E.” by Frank Sinatra. The celebration continued well beyond the night. The night ended with the band’s cover of “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. What a show!

Exquisite Wedding At The Delamar

A spectacular winter wedding with Around Town Entertainment!

The wedding was set for February 2020.

The evening started at the stunning Connecticut wedding venue, the Delamar Hotel in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Guests arrived in style and were invited to the Phoenix Room to witness the intimate vows between Kathleen and Edward.

Connecticut wedding musicians from Around Town Entertainment played the beautiful classical pieces from Chopin and Shubert as the bridal party and the bride entered and seemingly glided down the isle.

The guests cheered at the conclusion of the ceremony, while Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” played.

The guests enjoyed cocktails and music as the jazz trio from Around Town Entertainment created a spirited atmosphere for all to enjoy.

The rest of the evening was history!  A party commenced and the guests danced the night away!

The reception was held in the stunning room known as the Mystic Ballroom

First the reception started with a grand entrance by the bride and groom and their bridal party.

Introduction songs played by the Connecticut wedding band, Authority Band from Around Town Entertainment included classics such as “Baby Hold On To Me” by Eddie Money and “No Surrender” by Bruce Springsteen.   The couple kept it classic with the a traditional first dance song, “Just The Way You Are” by Billy Joel.    The bride had a heartwarming dance with her father to the song “I Loved Her First” by Heartland.  The groom also had a warm and touching dance with his mother to the song “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion.  The band prepared all these favorite songs for the bride and groom so they could have these songs performed live.   There was never a moment when the live music stopped flowing.   The band played continuous live music throughout the evening to make sure the guests were on their feet and dancing wild to the party.

As the guests enjoyed their dinner, the band played a very special requested song “Gypsy” by Fleetwood Mac.  The bride and groom also requested “Night Moves” by Bob Segar and “Badlands” by Bruce Springsteen.   They definitely loved some Bruce!  So the band played more Bruce Springsteen songs throughout the night to make sure that the couple had their favorites performed.

December 2019 was one for the books! Around Town Entertainment was handpicked to perform at Cecily Koss’s and Burke Wiggin’s reception. The event was held at the beautiful Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, Connecticut. What a picture-perfect night!

The evening started off with tasty cocktails and a live jazz trio provided by Around Town Band to set the mood. After cocktails, the bride and groom took center stage in the main room. First, the NY wedding band introduced the newly married couple by playing “I Can’t Turn You Loose” by The Blues Brothers. Then they had their first dance to “Love Your Love The Most” by Eric Church. After that, the father danced with his daughter while the band played “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra. The mother and son dance followed as the wedding band played, “I Believe in You” by Don Williams.

When first dances, toasts, and dinner were finished, guests braved the rain and headed outside to roast smores at the fire pit. Later in the night, Santa made a special appearance by bringing pizza onto the dance floor and entertaining the crowd while the Around Town Band band played “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The celebration continued with a boogied out dance floor to sing-along songs like Free” by Zac Brown Band and “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars to end the night. Beautiful Wedding at Park Chateau Estate 150 150 adam Michaels

Beautiful Wedding at Park Chateau Estate

Flower Girls at an NYC wedding

Around Town Entertainment had the great pleasure of being part of the stunning wedding hosted by bride and groom, Zara Feingold and Jordan Weiss.

The wedding was set for a beautiful March evening at the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

As one of the most requested New Jersey Wedding Bands, Around Town Entertainment has had the honor of performing at this venue many times.  What a beautiful venue and a perfect spot for a wedding celebration.

The evening began with heartwarming vows shared between the beaming couple.  This touching ceremony concluded with the traditional breaking of the glass, a Jewish tradition to represent good luck for the couple.

Next was the cocktail hour where a jazz trio provided by Around Town Entertainment sent warm vibes into the air with beautiful songs to entertain guests who came together to congratulate the newlyweds and to enjoy cocktails. When a couple looks for a NJ wedding band they love the added touch of a live jazz trio included to set off the night with elegance and a warmth to set the mood.

As the cocktail hour began to wind down, it was time for the guests to begin the celebration.  A festive reception with a full live band from the New York City Wedding Entertainment company, Around Town Entertainment.

The band played some of the couple’s favorite selections as guests poured into the reception.  The couple was introduced into the room as guests cheered.  The NY wedding band introduced the bride and groom’s first dance, “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles.  No song title could be more suiting for this couple who truly lit up the room as they shared their first dance.   The bride also had a very special dance with her father to the touching song “My Wish” by The Rascal Flats.   The groom had a dance with him mom to the classic Natalie Cole song “This Will Be.”

After the first dance and the touching parent dances, the guests joined the couple for a traditional Hora.  The guests circled the bride and groom during this traditional cultural dance and lifted the bride and groom up in celebration.  Everyone was screaming their congratulations as the Hora concluded.  But this was just the beginning!

The night continued with non-stop dancing from the beginning of this party until the end.  The bride and groom had chosen some specific songs they loved and the NJ wedding band, Around Town Entertainment prepared and performed them all!   Songs like “I Want You To Want Me” by Cheap Trick and “I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles” by The Proclaimers were just a couple of the wedding music selections for this NJ wedding couple.

Hudson Valley Wedding at Mountain View

Hudson Valley Wedding at Mountain View

We are sending you off into the weekend with a soiree so sweet, I can barely hold in my squeals. Captured by Angela Newton Roy in a way that just makes me want to kiss this screen, it’s the kind of wedding that will inspire and then some. Romantic, darling, and filled with pretty blooms by Floral Cottage – it doesn’t get any better than this lovelies.
From the Bride…Kaylan and Matt were married on a gorgeous summer day! They are high-school sweethearts who wanted to host a wedding weekend that brought all of the friends and family together whom had shared in their journey over the years. The Victorian-esque Ardmore Mansion at MountainView Manor was the perfect spot for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and a festive reception. Each of the bridesmaids, who wore shale green dresses from J.Crew, were gifted adorable chevron and chain link patterned coral and grey clutches, filled with tons of wedding day goodies. The groom gave each of his groomsmen carefully selected bottles of wine from Brooklyn Winery, as a nod to both their love for their home in Brooklyn, NY and of the winery. The florals by Floral Cottage, provided beautiful burst of tangerine, peach, pink and ivory for both the ceremony and reception, and Kaylan carried a gorgeous bouquet of peach, purple and pink. They were the prefect summer colors! The bride looked amazing in her Jenny Yoo dress, accented by Kate Spade shoes and BHLDN earrings. She and her sister both wore special sentimental rings, created from their late mother’s wedding ring, as a tribute to her. After the heartfelt ceremony, the party continued into the night with music by the A-List Band from Around Town Entertainment. It was such the perfect day as these two were surrounded by so many loving family and friends!
Sleepy Hollow Country Club Wedding from Sara Wight Photography

Sleepy Hollow Country Club Wedding from Sara Wight Photography

Plain and simple, this Sleepy Hollow Country Club wedding from Sara Wight Photography is beyond stunning. It starts with the Brides jaw-droppingly gorgeous Vera Wang gown and then just keeps the gorgeous going until the very end. It’s a soiree that has style for miles (and miles), and it’s surely a day their guests will talk about for years (and years).

From the bride… Michael and I wanted to create a unique, romantically sweet celebration for our wedding, with a touch of vintage elegance. We pulled inspiration from our Italian honeymoon and tried to include personal touches of our love of travel. It was important that we added a sense of our own personalities into the details, to help create uniqueness to our special day. When we were searching for venues we knew we wanted a vintage mansion setting, which would allow us to carry out our vision. Sleepy Hollow Country Club was an absolute dream location, and once we found the old Vanderbilt mansion, everything just seemed to fall into place. Our color palate was inspired by a farmer’s market wooden crate filled with ripe peaches. The soft peaches, greens, and pinks encapsulated the overall feel we wanted for our late June wedding. As a bride I knew exactly what feeling I wanted to capture, and I can truly say that everything turned out better than I could have imagined.

The outdoor ceremony had the feeling of walking through a European garden in the early 1900s. The Around Town Band provided an amazing harpist and flutist to help add to the romantic ambiance we wanted to create. With the amazing backdrop of the Hudson River, and the gorgeous trees, it was easy to get lost in the scenery, so the flowers and ceremony space were minimalistic, romantically soft, and simply… perfect. The white birch arbor was an idea created by myself, and carried out by our amazing florist, In Full Bloom. We wanted to create a unique, lighthearted ceremony, which would show the importance of our two families being joined together by our marriage. We wrote our own vows, had a few close family members/friends perform romantic readings, and got our guests involved through pledges and our personalized sermon.

Following the ceremony our guests moved to the outdoor cocktail hour, which gave one the feeling of being in J. Gatsby’s backyard during one of his elegant afternoon soirees. Personal touches were added with personalized cocktails for the bride and groom, as well as vintage paper straws and cute personalized stirrers, courtesy of MissPrissyPaige. Our guests ate, drank, and walked around the amazing grounds with one another, which was exactly what we had hoped they’d do… A perfect start to our perfect evening.

Inside, our guests were seated at their tables with handmade cork escort cards, made by the bride and groom, to capture our love of wine, wineries, and our upcoming honeymoon in Italy. Our tables were named for different cities in Italy, and the guests had to match their corks to the wine bottle labels, also handmade. Our centerpieces were 3-4 multilevel arrangements, intertwined with candles, and vintage stands. Our handmade limoncello favors were also placed at each guest’s seat. The children’s table was equipped with table top games, disposable cameras, and silly props for taking pictures. Pictures of us over the years, our families, even loved ones we’ve lost, were placed throughout the rooms inside the mansion. We had a puzzle piece guestbook, and a card display which was created to capture our love of travel. Even the ladies’ restroom had handmade lip-glosses, which was made by the bride and a bridesmaid. Our guests were able to roam around the mansion, as if it was our own home, and take in all the personal details we had created. They enjoyed a 3 course meal, two types of out-of-this-world cupcakes, created by Lovely Cakes, and late night snack vendors supplied by Funtime Amusements. An authentic cigar roller was also stationed on an outdoor veranda to allow for guests to flow inside and outside.

Guests have been talking about our amazing day for weeks now, and that was exactly what Michael and I had hoped for; an evening where we could celebrate our love of one another, with our closest family members and friends. Our wedding was created from our vision, with our guests in mind every step of the way. Michael and I felt overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we received on our special day, and we believe our guests felt equally appreciated through the personal details we’d created with them in mind.

Cape May Destination Wedding
Cape May Destination Wedding 900 600 adam Michaels

Cape May Destination Wedding

Cape May is one of the East Coast’s little gems that just so happens to make the perfect wedding backdrop. Exhibit A: these nautical nuptials that take “Cape May pretty” to a whole new level. Complete with a seafoam color and subtle, stripey details everywhere you look, this gallery from Caroline Frost is one lovely spot you don’t want to miss.

From the Bride… The setting of this wedding took place at Congress Hall in historic Cape May, NJ. This is the oldest seaside hotel on the east coast and was a vacation spot for 4 of our US presidents, in which the building holds a lot of history. Bryan and I chose to have the wedding at Congress Hall because Cape May was always a spot that my mom and I summer vacationed together growing up as well as a frequent getaway I went with my college roommate to her family home. When I took Bryan down to see Congress Hall, he immediately fell in love with the venue as much as I did, with it’s picturesque scenery and timeless history of the hotel.

The inspiration for Bryan and my wedding was elegant and classic, I wanted it to look like it came from the pages of Vanity Fair or a Ralph Lauren ad. We kept the color scheme simple based on the unique room color of the ballroom, which was turquoise, by using a simple color pallet of navy and silver accents with all whitefloral arrangementsto pay homageto being by the ocean.

The day could not have been more beautiful and unseasonably warm for November 2nd down the shore — almost 70 degrees — and the energy of the wedding was just as bright and infectious! Surrounded by family and friends alongside our bridal parties made of up college roommates, cousins and childhood and NYC friends, the love was felt all around that day.Throughout the wedding, we wanted to be sure to add our own personal touches and included details such as our favorite drink, a Moscow Mule which was our signature cocktail called the ‘Gunderstruck’ a spin on Bryan’s last name of ‘Gunderson.’ The band’s playlist was especially important to us to include a variety of special songs to remind us of our relationship through the years together whether it was attending a Tom Petty concert at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, or our wedding song ‘Halo’ by Beyonce, which Bryanincludedon a mix tape for me before he moved to Colorado for a summer. Also, in lieu of wedding favors to our guests, we decided to make a donation to Memorial Sloan Ketering Hospital for cancer research in honor of my two Grandfathers and uncle that all passed away at young ages to cancer to celebrate them in spirit that day.

After two amazing speeches by my maid of honor since second grade, Amanda, and Bryan’s best man from high school at Delbarton, Ryan — who gave a whole new meaning to the word ‘speedbump’ — we were treated by a surprise guest appearance by my Dad as he played with our band one of my favorite songs by the group Chicago, which was the first concert we both saw together while he served in Operation Desert Storm as a Colonel in the Marine Corps. We couldn’t have asked for a better day filled with love, happiness and joy as we celebrated our union together as husband and wife

Seaside Tent Wedding in Montauk

When it comes to outdoor soirees, nothing embodies summer weddings more to me than a tented seaside gathering. It’s what you can expect to see dotted across the coastline all season long. Weddings like this breezy Montauk affair from Cappy Hotchkiss, where the stars and stripes are flying high, the sun is shining and the smiles are abundant. Top it off with tunes from Around Town Entertainment and we’ve got ourselves a perfect summer day.
From Cappy Hotchkiss Photography…Sole East wedding in Montauk NY. A truly mellow couple with a truly mellow vibe. Her bridesmaid designed all the gorgeous paper stuff, invites, etc. and also designed the cool Montauk Tote bags that were given to all the guests as welcome gifts. The groom, Jay, works as some sort of big wig finance guy and actually took his groomsmen to Antarctica for the bachelor party!!!! Who the heck needs Vegas? But deep down in his core, a surf guy lives. Sole East is the perfect spot for a mellow surf style wedding. Super casual, bonfire, food cooked on the grill. No pretense. These guys were so mellow that upon arriving at the Montauk Lighthouse, where they had decided to take their wedding party photos before the ceremony, and discovering that there was about a 35 mph wind whipping, they just went with it. And the wedding party was game as well. No one complained, hair flying, clothes flying. They just had fun. The ceremony was in a church in Montauk and the getaway car was their Land Rover. Lots of family, lots of love. Kids in J.crew. Pie in lieu of cake. Crazy band, crazy dancing. The place cards were gorgeous silver pocket compasses engraved with the couple’s names.
Classic + Elegant New York City Wedding
Elegant NYC Wedding at The High Line Hotel 900 600 adam Michaels

Elegant NYC Wedding at The High Line Hotel

Just when I think I’ve seen my share of elegant NYC weddings, I come upon a gem like this one and my heart beats a bit faster once more. Karen Hill worked her magic behind the lens, capturing this gorgeous affair planned by Classic Events, and from the beautiful Bride’s veil (swoon!) to the epic dance party thanks to Around Town Entertainment, it’s proven once again the glory of a classic city celebration.

From Karen Hill Photography… The wedding day story of Liz and Bert’s wedding begins at the Refectory at the Highland Hotel where I found the florist, Putman and Putnam, busy finishing the beautiful floral arrangements. I love shooting with film because of how beautifully film renders its subject and how it captures it with such softness. These days photographers who shoot with film are becoming more and more scarce so when a client connects with my images and loves what I do, it makes me feel it’s worth while.

The High Line Hotel is a complete site with everything needed for a beautiful city wedding. The garden, Refectory and Gothic Chapel are amazing. It’s a grand venue.

Liz and Bert are both from the south and have called NYC home for the past ten years. By day, he’s a lawyer and by night he’s in two bands, the Stemms and The Post, while she’s a writer for Diane von Furstenberg by day and a writer for herself by night. Their wedding was celebrated with friends and family for an unforgettable day, filled with love, laughter and beautiful light.
