Bumble Love

It was early 2015. September and summer was slowly winding down. Ryan had just finished a month-long vacation in Europe with old friends and he was not sure if he really wanted to jump into the dating scene but hey, why not?

A day after he connected with Christina on Bumble, he received a message that was sweet and right to the point! Christina asked Ryan if he wanted to meet for dinner. At this point Ryan was shocked. Girls messaging guys first? That never happens!

Their first date was far from perfect- Ryan almost fell off of a chair at the wine bar he chose in the East Village. The stars were fighting for alignment because following that date they went on 2 others that week, including dancing inside Christina’s favorite music venue Brooklyn Steel.

It was on that date, Ryan shared with Christina his love for the same music and many more things they had in common! It was also the first time in years that Christina remembered feeling so calm, happy and relaxed. After some time away for travel, they finally found themselves committed and about a year later…engaged!

Fast forward to October 13, 2019- the day they invited Around Town Entertainment to play at their wedding! We traveled to The Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island to perform for them. This place was massive!  The day started in the Outdoor Gazebo where a pianist from Around Town Entertainment warmed the crowd before the bride and groom walked down the aisle with a proper ballad of Canon in D. The bride made her grand entrance to Elvis Prseley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love With You. The music continued as the bride and groom made their first kiss to “Wedding March”.

After that, guests moved to the Main Ballroom for cocktails and the reception featuring Altitude Band from Around Town Entertainment. The wedding band’s jazz trio played classical music in the background while guests mingled and relaxed on leather chairs.

When drinks were finished, it was time for Around Town Entertainment’s Altitude Band to start the main event of the evening.  The wedding band opened with “Thriller” Michael Jackson while the bride and groom did their best impression of the legend. Next up, Ryan and Christina had their first dance to “Wild Horses” Rolling Stones. Next up, the father and daughter had their own duet to  “Love on the Brain” Rihanna. Then, the mother and son had their dance to The Beatles “In My Life.”

The wedding band continued to turn heads and bodies the rest of the night by incorporating a very fun and high energy playlist until the end of the night. Guests were singing along to songs from The Killers, Drake, Outkast, Sia, and many more! What a night!

The Altitude Band brings high energy experience to every event in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. The bands elite, talented and studied musicians have toured with some of today’s top artists. They have been featured as artists and musicians in their own right on major records and have graced some of the world’s biggest stages.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

A Storybook Fantasy Come to Life

A Storybook Fantasy Come to Life

On a cold autumn night in October, Corinne was bartending in Williamsburg, and her friend was doing a shot with this guy at the end of the bar. Immediately, she was like, “Who is that?” She immediately noticed Ken, and I was like, “Oh my god, this guy is very cute.” So after during her work shift, they started talking, and he bought her a drink.

Ken recalls her exact words-, “I’m not making drinks for anybody else. I’m doing the shot with him!”  They didn’t even exchange numbers that night after talking for hours.. Luckily, Ken came back to the bar a week later, on a chill Sunday night. Corinne was  getting off her shift when she saw Ken. So they decided to hang out for a minute and grab a drink at the bar.

There was a DJ and a lot of dancing. Then they went over to another bar in Bushwick. They were hanging out at the bar and talking, and finally had their first kiss there. Super laid-back—casual and easy!

Fast forward just a couple years later, they were planning their wedding at Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Pennsylvania! The couple enlisted Around Town Entertainment to play on their special day. They chose the award winning  Around Town Band for the reception.  The bands elite, talented and studied musicians have toured with some of today’s top artists. They have been featured as artists and musicians in their own right on major records and have graced some of the world’s biggest stages!

On their wedding day, September 2, 2020, we traveled through a ton of winding roads to get to the 5,500 acres establishment that is Skytop Lodge. It is one of the most coveted wedding destinations in the Northeast, creating the perfect backdrop for Ken and Corinne’s new chapter together!

The ceremony took place at Skytop Lodge’s Formal Garden. Over 50 friends and family took their seats as they waited patiently for the couple to walk down Skytop’s dramatic outdoor staircase. As the guitarist from Around Town Entertainment performed “A Thousand Years” Christina Perri, the bride headed towards the aisle in stunning fashion, flanked by the beautiful gardens surrounding the very important persons of the day. When the bride finally kissed the groom, the wedding guitarist played “Paradise City” Guns n Roses as guests cheered and sang their hearts out.

The party continued in the South Lawn for cocktails and the reception. Secluded on the water with a deck for moonlight dancing and an outdoor fire pit, this was the perfect setting for an intimate wedding. A jazz trio from Around Town Entertainment dazzled the crowd as they enjoyed fine cocktails and bursts of laughter. Then, it was time for Around Town Entertainment’s Around Town Band to take the stage.

The wedding band played “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray La Montague as  the newlyweds made their grand entrance to a roaring crowd. Next the father and daughter had their own duet to  “Wonderful Night” Eric Clapton. The mother and son had their dance to Rascal Flats “My Wish.” After dinner and cake, the dance floor was packed all night as the Around Town Band performed songs from Bob Seger, Beyonce, Puff Daddy, and many more to finish off an epic night!

We wish you well Corinne and Ken!

Allison, Patrick, and The After Party Band

Allison and Patrick met all the way back in November 2014 in Yorkville. Patrick and his friends were going out every single night. On night four or five, a couple of them rallied: “Let’s just go to a local bar, nothing crazy.”

The first time Patrick saw Allison, he drank enough to have courage and go talk to her. After exchanging numbers, Patrick went back to his friend’s apartment feeling pretty giddy.

Patrick texted two days later, on Saturday morning, and asked Allison to go out that night. They got along instantly, had the same music tastes, and never wanted the night to end. After bar hopping, Allison ended up inviting him back to her apartment with a bunch of her closest friends. They discovered that, the entire week, he had been staying in the apartment directly above hers! They had crossed paths a million times!

Next they had their first dance to “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant” Billy Joel. Following that up was a beautiful dance from the father and daughter to “The Way You Look Tonight” Tony Bennett. Accidentally In Love

Accidentally In Love

Marcus and Melida were both photographers. They met in August  2013 outside Dominique Ansel Bakery in Soho.  How appropriate is that they met in the Cronut line! Remember the craze that summer?

Marcus was actually there to take pictures of the line. It was already around the block at six in the morning! Coincidentally, Melida was also there taking photos too—that’s how they started communicating. The two quickly hit off and when she got home, she emailed him right away asking him for some souvenir photos for the day.

It wasn’t until months later, they decided to meet. She suggested they go back and get Cronuts! Eventually, they decided to meet on a Saturday morning. Waiting two to three hours and getting to know each other without being drunk wasn’t so bad after all. They both had a similar taste in music and most importantly, really good conversation.

Later on, in October, J. Cole came to town, and they just became even more obsessed with each other after attending the show. From then on, they would go to different music shows throughout the city—Brooklyn, the Bronx almost every weekend!

After a while doing this, Marcus finally proposed on a sunny Sunday afternoon. He chose Grand Central because it’s one of his favorite places in New York- so magical! He felt a little bit nerve-racking doing it in public, but it also added to the adrenaline rush! A minute or two later, it was over! Now it was time to plan their wedding!

Immediately after their proposal, they requested Around Town Entertainment to perform on their special day. Of course, we were available and delighted to play in front of their friends and family!

On October 11, 2020, they had their very special day at The Crystal Room in Staten Island. It was the perfect setting for a lifetime of cherished memories. The day started with a beautiful ceremony as the pianist from Around Town Entertainment set the mood with an emotional ballad as guests entered the building. The music continued as bride and groom made their entrances to the alter while the wedding pianist played another song. Then, it was time to celebrate the bride and groom’s first kiss, officially becoming a married couple. After that, guests sat back and enjoyed cocktails while Around Town Entertainment’s jazz trio played classic hits all the way from the 80’s to the 90’s.

Next up, Around Town Entertainment’s award-winning Around Town Band set the stage to turn up the celebrations in the reception hall. The wedding band opened with “For Once In My Life” Stevie Wonder while the bride and groom made their grand entrance. Their first dance was to “Vision of Love” by Mariah Carey. Ending the night, the wedding band played songs from Michael Jackson, Rick James, and many more! We were delighted to see the guests dancing and laughing all night long! They were definitely living their best life!

Around Town Entertainment’s decades of music experience will ensure that your special day runs smoothly and seamlessly. Every song list is  prepared carefully according to your every request. We specialize in performing in every music genre with a rich assortment of the most popular and up-to-date song list. We worry about the details and let you enjoy your day.

When There’s a Will, There’s a Way

When There’s a Will, There’s a Way 150 150 adam Michaels

When There’s a Will, There’s a Way

David and Julienne’s wedding plan was a 400-500 person wedding at the Mister C’s/ ABC Beach Club in Allenhurst, New Jersey. After about a month or so went by, it was clear that a 400+ wedding would be too many people. Without even needing a big discussion on the matter, they were both on the same page of wanting to still get married this year in whatever way we could. After planning their wedding for two years and being together for 10, they did not want to postpone their wedding any longer so they decided on a smaller wedding with only their closest friends and family. The final piece was adding a wedding band that was part of their new exciting vision to set the tone for their very special day.

So when they asked Around Town Entertainment to perform, we couldn’t say no! The couple had to adjust their planned wedding but Around Town Entertainment was there to help ease the stress and create a night filled with songs from some of their favorite artists. Although we knew the most important part of a wedding is the exchanging of vows and the unification of their love for each other, we made a huge effort to perform music that made walking down the aisle a truely magical experience.

All in all, there were no regrets and the wedding went on perfectly as planned. On the day of the wedding on September 13, 2020, David and Julienne were still surrounded by a small group of their closest friends and family at Mister C’s/ ABC Beach Club and that’s all that matters!

With the musical performance by a pianist from Around Town Entertainment, the ceremony went on as planned. It was a perfect intimate gathering, featuring moments that will forever hold close to the bride and groom’s heart as family and friends witnessed a breathtaking first kiss and eventually celebratory walk out of the building in style to songs from Sugar Ray and Smashmouth!

After the ceremony and taking pictures together, everyone headed outside for fresh cocktails and small bites while the jazz trio from Around Town Entertainment provided the live music entertainment. The trio played a combination of old school blues and pop throwback classics that was sure not to be missed!

Next was the reception where Around Town Entertainment’s Around Town Band worked with David and Julienne to create carefully designed set playlists. Part one featured a 20 minutes live set packed with a mix of pop and R&B artists from Elton John, Alicia Keys, Sade, and Norah Jones for the couple’s grand entrance.

Part two was designed to fulfill David and Julienne’s love for Latin dance. This set included performances of “Bamboléo” Gypsy Kings, “Los lobos” La Bamba, “Bailando” Enrique Iglesias, and many more. Part three was 40-60 minutes of the Studio 54 Disco vibe like Donna Summers, Rick James, and Jackson 5.  To end the night, everyone wanted to hear Michael Jackson and we didn’t refuse! The wedding band kept the guests dancing and sweating with his classics like “Billie Jean” and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough!”

All in all, this was another successful event by Around Town Entertainment. Around Town Entertainment is proud to have been chosen as the best NY wedding band, NJ wedding band, and CT wedding band in 2020.

Cute Oceanfront Wedding for Two

Cute Oceanfront Wedding for Two 150 150 adam Michaels

Cute Oceanfront Wedding for Two

On October 4, 2020, we celebrated Lauren and Logan’s wedding at Wave Resort in New Jersey. The pair had a very interesting path on how they met. Logan was a music artist in residence at the Studio Museum in Harlem when the two first interacted at his open studio in Brooklyn.

Logan remembers being very attracted to her, but were both in different times of their lives.  She was a collector while he was an artist, so the dynamics were a bit different. They would bump into each other at events, but would always remain friends. Then, in 2011, he was in Paris and she was in Germany, doing a residency at Monet’s estate, and they finally ended up having dinner together. That was the first time that they had actually been together, alone! From that dinner, it was the first time the two realized there was something there!

When they got to know each other on a much more personal level. It was just so easy, and everything just flowed!  They even have similar music tastes! Sometimes, love presents itself, but it might be too scary because of other things that are going on in your life at that moment. You don’t want to turn your entire life upside down, but sometimes you just have to take that leap. They did that and the rest was history!

When they asked us to perform at their wedding, we were very delighted to plan a very special playlist for their day. The day started with a guitarist provided by Around Town Entertainment performing covers of classics during the ceremony with crashing surf, blue skies and white sand surrounding Wave Resort’s beach. This was the picture-perfect backdrop for an oceanside ceremony!

The bride and groom chose “Canon D” as the processional song. Then, the guitarist played a very emotional version of “Uptown Girl” Billy Joel.  After the bride and groom exchanged vows and kissed, Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” was performed as guests cheered and sang to celebrate the joyful moment.

Next was cocktails and the reception in Wave Resort’s 7,000 sq ft, indoor-outdoor rooftop with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean on the Jersey Shore! In the outside terrace, Around Town Entertainment’s jazz trio played throwback 50’s, swing, and even some John Mayer, Tony Bennett, and Etta James! Very classic touch that represented the whole wedding!

After that, Around Town Entertainment’s A-List Band took the stage to start the reception. The bride and groom had their entrance to the song “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered” by Stevie Wonder. Their first dance was to “Thinking Out Loud” Ed Sheeran. The groom then danced with his mom to “As” by Stevie Wonder.

When the food was done, the newlyweds had their cake cutting ceremony to more songs from The Beatles and Billy Joel! Then, it was time to dance as the A-List Band performed various hits ranging from Taylor Swift, Pitbull, Miley Cryus, and Mumford and Sons to end the spectacular night!

Congratulations Lauren and Logan! What an evening!

Courtney and Jeff’s Backyard Wedding

Courtney and Jeff’s Backyard Wedding

Everyone says that finding your soulmate happens when you least expect it, well they’re right! The story of Courtney and Jeff began when she saw this very handsome fella liking all her Instagram pics. She immediately started liking his back.

Next thing she knows she had about 20 likes. She noticed on his Instagram bio that he had a Facebook. Courtney thought, “how could I not message him?” So she gathered all my strength and sent a message starting with “Hey, what’s up?” Who would’ve known those three small words years later would make me the happiest person alive.

They talked on the phone and FaceTime for about a month until he finally came to visit. They both live in New York, but she’ll never forget the feeling of  him walking up to her door the first time. After just sitting there and talking together for hours they realized that they could definitely see myself with. Little did they know four years later they would be planning the wedding of their dreams and inviting Around Town Entertainment to play their wedding on October 3, 2020.

So we took a road trip to their home in Slingerlands, New York and performed for their family and friends! It was a very intimate and one of the most memorable performances we have showcased!

The day started with a heartwarming courtyard ceremony in their backyard. The bride and groom chose “You and Me” by Dave Matthews as the processional song, performed by a guitarist from Around Town Entertainment. The bride chose “Back Together” by Jack Johnson as she walked down the grass to kiss her groom. The two kissed and exchanged vows as “Accidentally in Love” by Counting Crows performed during the couple’s special moment.

Then, a jazz trio from Around Town Entertainment delighted guests as they sipped on cocktails on Courtney and Jeff’s patio. Next was the reception in the pergola next to the pool house. They had their first dance to an acoustic version of Beyonce’s Halo performed by Around Town Entertainment’s Alternative Band. The bride also had a very emotional dance with her father to the song “I Loved Her First” by Heartland.  The groom then danced with his mom to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. After dinner, the newlyweds had their cake cutting ceremony while Christina Aguilera’s “Candyman” played in the background by the wedding band.

To end the night, the Alternative Band performed a variety of classic hits like Clean Bandit, The Rolling Stones, Luis Fonzi, and many more! All that said, we could not be happier with how their wedding turned out.  Courtney and Jeff’s expectations were exceeded beyond anything they ever imagined, and we could not be more grateful to play for them.  Their wedding will always hold a special place in the heart of the Around Town Entertainment family.

September 12, 2020 was the perfect night for Karly Morgenstein and Donald Knaus Junior to tie the knot. It would all happen at the picturesque venue Andover Farms in Andover, New Jersey. The evening began with an intimate outdoor ceremony. The pianist from Around Town Entertainment serenaded the guests as they arrived and were escorted to their seats before the ceremony began. Then the selected songs for the ceremony began as it was time for the bridal and groom to walk down the aisle. The groom’s song was Pachebel’s “Canon in D”. They were met with cheers as the announced husband and wife. The pianist played the most appropriate song chosen by the couple “Best Days Of My Life” by American Authors.
The guests were invited to a spectacular cocktail style event. The couple opted for this to create a loose and casual vibe and also of course to really make sure guests had the ability to move around and dance. And did they dance! The night was filled with great music provided by Around Town Entertainment. The bride and groom chose The Authority band, one of five unique bands from Around Town Entertainment. The company offers five separate and set bands that have become an incredibly popular choice for most couples seeking a high energy and high end Connecticut wedding band, New Jersey Wedding Band and New York Wedding band.
The band prepared all the songs and performed each for the introduction of the bride and groom, their first dance, their parent dances and their cake cutting moment. They also prepared the couple’s favorite dance songs that they really wanted to hear at the wedding.
The introduction song “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince and the crowd did go crazy! The bride and groom of course had an intimate first dance and they chose the song “You Light Up My Life” by Whitney Houston. Smitten in New York

Smitten in New York 150 150 adam Michaels

Smitten in New York

Julie and Silvan Schmitz were smitten or as they so cleverly said it “Schmitten!”

The couple met inCapetown, South Africa. They met in a bar called Ferryman’s at the V&A waterfront when they sat at adjacent tables. Several hours of drinks and conversation later, the group decided to explore more of Capetown together. After enough drinks and delusions of grandeur, a second adventure the following day was proposed. To their surprise, the adventure continued into a 9 hour hike up AND down Table Mountain. They knew this was the beginning of a very special relationship. Julie left Capetown on her travels and Silvan decided to drive several hours to take her to dinner and spend her last day in South Africa with him. As time passed, every day they still spoke. After a month of talking, Julie booked a trip back to South Africa to travel the garden route with Silvan for two weeks. 4 weeks later, Silvan came to New York and they began the beginning of their long distance relationship, traveling every 6 weeks to see each other. The rest was history!

The couple planned a spectacular East Hampton, New York wedding on a sprawling property with the most exquisite scenery, just perfect for a summer wedding day. With horses and stables off to the side of the property, there was just enough down home country vibe to bring the perfect touch of warmth to the upscale Hamptons wedding.
The wedding was tented and adorned with lights that created an enchanted evening.
Adding to the enchantment of course, the bride and groom had to choose the perfect music to accompany the moment. The couple chose the New York City wedding band, the Around Town Band from Around Town Entertainment. This is one of the most sought after New York Wedding Bands and the New York wedding entertainment had to be perfection. And it was!
The evening started with a jazz duo that entertained the guests as they arrived and enjoyed the extended two hour cocktail reception. The duo played an eclectic mix of lively songs to set the easy, yet sophisticated vibe for the evening. The guests then moved to the tent where it was time to celebrate the bride and groom in great style! Julie and Silvan made a grand introduction as husband and wife as the band played “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris. They then danced to their chosen first dance song, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. What a great choice! The bride had a special dance with her father to a really uniquely, beautiful song “In Case You Didn’t Know“ by Boyce Avenue. The guests danced the night away to a high energy mix of songs that were both classic and current in feel. This had everyone on the dance floor the entire evening. The bride had a very special surprise in store for her new husband. She joined the band to sing a song “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alecia Keys. Everyone was moved by the moment and the band thoroughly enjoyed her performance. The band played the music and the singers from the band became her back up singers. It was truly a great moment.
The band played some other favorites for the bride and groom as well, to include more songs from Coldplay and also the cool pop song “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I.

Around Town Entertainment was honored to perform for this great wedding couple.

Beautiful Outdoor Wedding at Briarcliff Manor

Fall weddings in Westchester, NY are a beautiful thing! When you’re surrounded by all those wonderful colors and beautiful people, it’s impossible not to have all the feels in the world! Nicholas and Taylor recently tied the knot at the Briarcliff Manor in the most incredible way. This was certainly one celebration that no one would soon forget!

Nicholas and Taylor met at UC Davis – 10 years ago! Nicholas was well into medical school when they started planning a wedding at The Briarcliff Manor.  He graduated just before they were wed. The Briarcliff Manor was the perfect Westchester backdrop to celebrate and dance the night away to celebrate and begin their own chapter. They requested a very fun and lively playlist and Around Town Entertainment was delighted to make all their special requests a reality!

The special day on September 20, 2020 began with the bride getting ready at her parent’s house in Briarcliff Manor, New York. As the Ceremony drew closer, Nicholas was full of nerves, but all his worries melted away when he saw Taylor smiling, walking down the aisle towards him. The wedding ceremony was set for the bride and groom to tie the knot within the cozy confines of The Briarcliff Manor, surrounded by their loving family and friends.

Around Town Entertainment waited in anticipation to welcome the guests into the main event!  First there was a lovely cocktail hour where the guests enjoyed the beautiful main room which served as the inspirational, stunning back drop to the film “Gone With The Wind.”

The Briarcliff Manor has beauty and grace of your classic manor of the late 1800s. From the hidden staircase to the stunning balcony, Around Town Entertainment’s jazz trio provided exciting music to lift the spirits as guests explored the venue and mingled.

The bride and groom were glowing as newlyweds and so excited to have their closest friends and family surround them on this magnificent day.  The bridal party and the parents of the bride and groom waited in anticipation for their grand entrance which was set to celebrate the bride and groom’s special day.

We could feel Nicholas and Taylor’s romance come alive as the Around Town Band from Around Town Entertainment lifted the energy in the Elegant Manor Reception Hall for the main event. The grand foyer featured a sweeping double staircase that took our breath away. The intricate French doors let in natural light, leading guests to an intimate ceremony space where the bride and groom made their grand appearance.

The Bride and Groom were introduced into the main room to the song  “Bring Them Out” TI.   The parents were also introduced into the reception and had a special introduction as well!  They chose the song “Let’s Get It Started” By the Black Eyed Peas.  The bride and groom chose a classic, emotional song for their very first dance as husband and wife.  They chose “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley.  It was a perfect choice.  The crowd cheered as the couple had this very romantic and intimate moment.  The bride also had a very lovely dance with her father to a unique father and daughter wedding dance song entitled “Daddy’s Angel” by T. Carter.  And the groom escorted his mom to the dance floor to have their own special moment.  They danced to the song “Hero” by Mariah Carey.  The vocalist from the Around Town Band wowed the guests on this one as she hit all of the famous Mariah Carey high notes.

As the night progressed, the wedding band played “Sugar Sugar” by the Archies for the cake cutting.  The cake was a triple-tiered work of art!

Taylor and Nicholas gave the band a very specific list of favorite songs.  The band played their favorites to celebrate the night and the guests sang along to all the songs as many of the songs were classic anthems.  There was also a balance and rhythm between the high energy songs and the warm touching ballads that the bride and groom loved.  The guests cheered throughout the night as each song set the mood.  It was amazing! Wow!

The Around Town Band recognizes the importance of creating the perfect event, so from the first introduction to the day of the event, each client is given specialized attention, which entails customizing music for each event, professional and immediate attention to detail and bringing the exact desired effect to each event.

Around Town Entertainment was honored to have been chosen as the best NY wedding band, NJ wedding band, and CT wedding band.

Congratulations to Nicholas and Taylor!
