Where’s My Hug? 1024 536 adam Michaels

Where’s My Hug?

Here at Around Town Entertainment, we’re big fans of love stories, and we’ve heard them all. From meeting at work, to meeting in college, or deciding you’re just friends and later falling in love… there’s truly no such thing as a love story we don’t also love! That said, we have a particularly strong place in our hearts for couples that met when they were young–and then eventually, some time later, tied the knot! If this seems particularly specific to you, that’s because it is–especially in the case of Jayna and Caleb, who exchanged vows last weekend! After years of friendship, to the “Where’s my hug?”, and college, Jayna and Caleb both knew that the other was the one–and we got to come along for the celebrations!

Though we did not play at the beautiful off-site ceremony, we did get to be a part of everyone’s favorite 2/3’s of any wedding–the cocktails and reception! So, (obviously) upon arrival, the party was expecting some cocktails! With our jazz trio, Justin, Michael, and Brian, the party enjoyed some gentle jazzy tunes, and plenty of delicious drinks! Everyone engaged in small talk, the beautiful views just outside of the club windows, and discussed the gorgeous ceremony! As the cocktail hour ended, the party was ready for something more serious… it was time for some foodand dancing!

The party settled in for the reception in the gorgeous ballroom, and the night was kicked off! After everyone took their seats, the time came for the bridal party entrance! The whole team entered to “Timber!” By the time that everyone settled, it was time for the main entrance of the night: Jayna and Caleb, of course! Their entrance song of choice was, naturally, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody”, a regular request that the band always rocks! Now that the crowd had settled, it was time to get down to business. In their debut dance as husband and wife, Jayna and Caleb spun around the dance floor to “Lifetime“! From there, it was time for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Jayna and her Father danced to “This Dance”, and Caleb and his Mother danced to “Never Alone” sung by the Altitude Band’s female vocalist! There certainly was not a dry eye in house, so with this, the festivities turned for the even sweeter… and that meant cake! As the slice was dealt, the band treated the party to “Sweetheart“! It was the perfect cherry on top!

With blood sugars higher and pumping strong, the entire party  was ready to cut a rug! They danced the night away to beloved hits such as “Always and Forever”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, “Play that Funky Music” and more! Another fun dance we caught was a trio of couples: Jayna and Caleb, accompanied by both sets of their parents, danced to “Always and Forever!” It was an extra sweet moment that was the perfect chance for the party to grab a quick drink and refresh. With the burn of dancing still fresh, the party was going strong–that was, until it wasn’t, and it was time to go! Everyone’s dancing shoes had been sufficiently broken in, and the party found themselves heading home. After a night of so much fun, Jayna and Caleb were looking forward to the rest of their lives, with their past (stretching back to even 8th grade!) behind them. Such a perfect day would surely not be soon forgotten–by us, any of the attendees, or the beautiful couple themselves!

From Forever Friends to Eternal Love

It’s a tale as old as time. Boy and girl meet, boy and girl are just friends… then cut ten years forward in time, and they’re exchanging vows. And when we say a tale as old as time, we mean as old as a week ago–when Julia and Matt tied the knot! After so many weekends of intense heat, the A-List band got the chance to get out of the heat for a bit–and traveled their way to Skytop Lodge in Pennsylvania!

After a beautiful off-site ceremony, the day called for some partying. So, upon arrival, the party was immediately ready for some cocktails! With our jazz trio, the party enjoyed some gentle jazzy tunes, and plenty of delicious drinks! Everyone engaged in small talk, the beautiful views just outside of the gorgeous windows, and discussed the gorgeous ceremony! As the cocktail hour ended, the party was ready for something more serious… both in the way of foodand dancing!

Even if the weather were nice and mild, it was definitely time to heat things up! The party settled in for the reception, and the night was kicked off! After everyone took their seats, the parents, bridal party, and Bride and Groom all entered to “Can’t Stop the Feeling”! By the time that everyone settled, it was time for the first dance! In their debut dance as husband and wife, Julia and Matt spun around the dance floor to “Lifetime”! From there, it was time for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Julia and her Father danced to “You Are The Sunshine of My Life”, and Matt and his Mother danced to “The Man You’ve Become!”! There certainly was not a dry eye in house, so with this, the festivities turned for the even more exciting…

… and the dance floor was waiting! The entire party cut a rug to beloved hits such as “Just Dance”, “Baby”, “Dancin’ Queen”, “Fancy” and more! With the burn of dancing just as fresh as the burn of the drinks from the bar, the party was going strong! By the time that the clock struck midnight (aka, 10pm), and everyone’s dancing shoes had been sufficiently broken in, the party found themselves heading home. But it didn’t matter that the night was over–they had so much fun! (Almost just as much as we had playing music for them!) It was a perfect day, for sure, and no one knew that better than Julia and Matt–and they were looking forward to so many more. Cheers!

Fireworks, Fireworks! 150 150 adam Michaels

Fireworks, Fireworks!

While we like to be unbiased about our time at venues, (we love them all, we promise!) there is nothing quite like a wedding nestled into the green hills of upstate New York. Between the pretty blue skies, the gorgeous views, and the classic architecture, weddings in Upstate have a certain pizazz to them that we love. And last weekend, we got to celebrate in Sleepy Hollow Country Club with Preyaa and Jake as they tied the knot–and we had a blast!

The weekend started off without a hitch, with rosy warm weather, and clear skies. The ceremony, out on the grass, was played by our pianist and had delightful tunes such as “Say You Won’t Let Go” and a “Canon D” mashup with “Memories” underscoring the beautiful hour. As Preyaa and Jake were officially wed, and departed down the aisle, they got in one good laugh with the crowd by rickrolling them– they left to “Never Gonna Give You Up”!

With the ceremony drawn to a close, the party was ready to get some drinks into their systems. Which was perfect, because it was time for cocktail hour! Our jazz trio, had a ball of a time playing some gentle, jazzy music underneath the cocktails. And by the time that the hour drew to a close, everyone had put on their dancing shoes–and were down to cut a rug!

While some newly married couples may like to enter to Sinatra or Whitney, Preyaa and Jake pride themselves on their creativity–and entered to a legendary saxophone cover of “Dilemma”! As the party finally took their seats, Preyaa and Jake did the opposite, and took the floor for their first dance–“Beyond!” After they spun their last spin, it was time for another classic wedding dance–in the form of Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Preyaa and her father danced to “Father & Daughter,” and Jake and his mother danced to “My Wish”! After so many heartfelt dances, the party was ready for some fun! What better way to start it off than with some cake! As the band’s female vocalist sang “Love in Slow Motion”, the party took some slices, and got ready for the bouquet toss! The Altitude Band rocked “Let’s Get Loud” as the flowers soared through the air–and chose the next person to be married!

The night was filled with tons of music and dancing, and as fireworks took off to mark the end of a beautiful day, the band treated us all to one last song–“Firework“, of course! While they were, of course, a beautiful sight, they barely held a candle to seeing Preyaa and Jacob being wed and enjoying their time together. We were so happy to be along for the ride!

Love Like Grapes On the Vine

Falling in love is easy when you’ve got your friends and family around–and, of course, it doesn’t hurt when you’re at the beautiful Stablegate Farm & Vineyard, either! Jennifer and Steven got to experience this firsthand as they tied the knot last weekend! With warm weather and beautiful sights, our pianist had a blast playing beautiful tunes such as “I Can’t Help Falling In Love“, “All My Life”, and more! By the time that they tied the knot, the day had only just begun!

After such a gorgeous ceremony, the party was ready for some fun. That meant it was time for cocktails! They enjoyed some jazzy tunes as they mingled, with our jazz trio, playing gently underneath the small talk. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful views just outside of the barn, and discussed the stunning ceremony! As the cocktail hour ended, the party was ready for something heavier… both in terms of foodand dancing!

Enough chatter–it was time to heat things up! The party settled in for the reception, and the night was kicked off! After everyone took their seats, Jennifer and Steven spun around the dance floor to “Amazed”, in their official dance floor debut as husband and wife! From there, it was time for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Jennifer and her Father danced to “Vals Para Una Novia”, and Steven and his Mother danced to “Amor de Mae Amor Santo”. There certainly was not a dry eye in house, so with this, the party was ready for their turn in the spotlight! That meant it was time for some serious dancing…

… and the dance floor was prime to cut a rug! Of course, the night had some incredible anthems,  but the party had some particularly great dance moves during “Despacito”, “Cruise”, and “Wagon Wheel”, amongst many others, of course!  The party had made so many incredible memories, and truly had had their fill of dancing, music, and overall joy! The sun had long set on a perfect day, and Jennifer and Steven could not be happier–or more ready to spend the rest of their lives together!

A Pet Approved Union 1200 800 adam Michaels

A Pet Approved Union

Kaitlyn and Richard met in February 2018 at Fraunces Tavern in New York City when their mutual friend Brad introduced them. (To this day, they argue over how to pronounce Fraunces.) Richard’s first thought when he saw Kaitlyn was, “Wow, she’s pretty.” Kaitlyn’s first thought when she saw Richard was, “Wow, he’s tall.” After hanging out most of the day, they went to Richard’s friend’s birthday party, where they played skee-ball all night.

Kaitlyn and Richard had their first date about a week later at Linen Hall. There was clearly a connection and they started dating. Kaitlyn’s dog, Bear, gave Richard the stamp of approval pretty quickly. While her cat, Hank, took a bit longer, he eventually approved of Richard too.

After about five months of NJ Transit rides, axe throwing, karaoke, and bottles of wine, Richard moved to Brooklyn. The much shorter commute across the East River allowed for more time spent together watching The Office, walking Bear, eating ice cream, and drinking (more) bottles of wine.

In early 2021, Kaitlyn and Richard planned a trip to Miami. Kaitlyn was convinced that Richard would propose on the trip, but he didn’t. Instead, he surprised her with a proposal two weeks before the trip, in Battery Park at sunset. Kaitlyn and Richard were so excited to get married and to celebrate with friends and family in June 2022 with Around Town Entertainment!

The beautiful couple got married at Battello in New Jersey. Kaitlyn and Richard’s special day was beautifully decorated with fresh blooms by Blue Jasmine Floral! Everything was set in place on the big day by Dominique Borzomati of Battello. Before Kaitlyn started down the aisle, the violinist and pianist from Around Town Entertainment played “Once in a Lifetime” by Landon Austin! Everyone saw Richard first see Kaitlyn start down the aisle, and everyone looked on with a smile. The two exchanged their vows and said their “I Do’s” and then skipped down the aisle singing along to the ever-fitting and celebratory song “Fire and the Flood” by Vance Joy. It was such an exciting moment, almost as exciting as the party after!

Then it was cocktail hour, where the guests were serenaded by the Around Town Band’s jazz trio featuring a bass, guitar, and piano! The trio perfectly underscored all the delicious hors d’oeuvre and bubbly drinks as the celebration kicked off. All the guests started to tap their toes along with many of the jazz classics the group played, getting excited to dance it out for the reception!

As everyone entered the reception room, the Around Town Band played the most perfect song to get the party started: “Don’t Stop Me Now” by the legendary band, Queen. The bridal party skipped into the room jamming it out to the most requested wedding band in New Jersey, the Around Town Band. Richard and Kaitlyn had their first dance as husband and wife to “Wake Me” by Bleachers and the dance party kicked off! They even had a selfie photo booth from Selfie Booth Company!

The Around Town Band played many of Richard and Kaitlyn’S favorite songs throughout the night such as, “American Girl” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, “Beggin’” by Maneskin, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan.

It was truly a night to remember and we’re so happy to have been part of Richard and Kaitlyn’s special day extra memorable!

Started With A “Let’s By Concert Tickets a Month in Advance” Kind of Commitment

In 2015, as Lauren and Jonathan began their professional careers, they spent their downtime perusing the then-popular dating app, Tinder. One weekend afternoon as Jonathan wasted daylight swiping left and right, Lauren’s profile came up. He swiped right. Unbeknownst to him, Lauren had done the same. A match.  After a few weeks of infrequent messaging, Lauren and Jonathan finally met in person when celebrating a mutual friend’s birthday. What began with an awkward “Hello” and *cheers* of their drinks ended with great conversation and an exchange of phone numbers.

They had their first date on July 2, 2015 in South Norwalk where Lauren still remembers getting carded for her glass of wine. They ended their date walking and talking around Vet’s Park. It is rumored that if you drive by today you can still find them walking and talking around the park. Shortly after their first date they made their first big commitment—two tickets to a Zac Brown Band concert at Citi Field a month in advance. Since then, Lauren and Jonathan have seen Zac Brown Band perform every year (until 2020), which includes trips to Saratoga, Denver and Boston.

Along with traveling for Zac Brown Band concerts, Lauren and Jonathan love spending vacation time by the water. Their first trip together was a weekend getaway to Newport, RI in 2016. Four years later they ventured back to enjoy some of their favorite moments of that first trip. At the Newport Vineyards on July 30, 2020, Jonathan asked Lauren to marry him.

Now they are SO excited to finally celebrate and tie the knot with Around Town Entertainment’s Around Town Band.

The beautiful couple got married at the Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle, New York. Everything was set in place on the big day by Rocco Agosnoti at the Glen Island Harbor Club. Before Lauren started down the aisle, the pianist from Around Town Entertainment played “You Are The Reason” by Calum Scott! Everyone saw Jonathan first see Lauren start down the aisle, and everyone looked on with a smile. The two exchanged their vows and said their “I Do’s” and then skipped down the aisle celebrating with a “Siman Tov u’Mazal Tov!” It was such an exciting moment, almost as exciting as the party after!

As everyone entered the reception room, the Around Town Band played the most perfect song to get the party started: “This Girl” by Cookin’ on 3 Burners and Kungs. The bridal party skipped into the room jamming it out to the most requested wedding band in New York, the Around Town Band. Jonathan and Lauren had their first dance as husband and wife to ”Loving You Easy” by their favorite… the Zac Brown Band and the dance party kicked off!

The Around Town Band played many of Jonathan and Lauren’s favorite songs throughout the night such as, “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, “I’ll Always Love You” by Taylor Dayne, and “Evergreen” by Barbara Streisand.

It was truly a night to remember and we’re so happy to have been part of Jonathan and Lauren’s special day extra memorable!

An Everlasting Love For The Ages 900 450 adam Michaels

An Everlasting Love For The Ages

When it comes to wedding venues in the Northeastern corner of the United States, we’ve certainly seen our fair share of gorgeous spots. From the sparkly pavements of New York City, to the snowy mountains of Maine, you’re hardly ever at a loss for beautiful and historic locations. It goes without saying that every location is beautiful, but we had a fabulous time celebrating Gurpreet and Nicole’s special day with them at the Rockleigh Country Club! Gorgeous greenery, gazebo filled architecture, and plenty of space, Rockleigh has it all–and made the perfect stage for a wedding!

After a beautiful off-site ceremony, the day called for some partying. So, upon arrival, the party moved to cocktails! They enjoyed some jazzy tunes as they mingled, with our jazz trio, Dave, Alex, and Junichi played gently underneath the small talk. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful views just outside of the country club windows, and discussed the gorgeous ceremony! As the cocktail hour ended, the party was ready for something heavier… both in terms of foodand dancing!

Even if the weather were nice and mild, it was time to heat things up! The party settled in for the reception, and the night was kicked off! After everyone took their seats, the bridal party entered to “This Will Be“, sung expertly by Nascha! And then, the stars of the night: the bride and groom, entering to a stellar rendition of “Love On Top” by Bobbi! To tug again at the heartstrings, Gurpreet and Nicole spun around the dance floor to “Die A Happy Man“, in their official dance floor debut as husband and wife. From there, it was time for the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Nicole and her Father danced to “Daughters”, sung by Carlton, and Gurpreet and his Mother danced to “(Everything I Do)I Do It For You”. There certainly was not a dry eye in house, so with this, the festivities turned for the sweeter… and it was time to cut the cake! As the moment arrived, Phoebe serenaded the party to “Knock Me A Kiss“… and yes, the cake was delicious!

Everyone’s bellies were full, so it was time for some serious dancing… and the dance floor was waiting! The entire party cut a rug to beloved hits such as “Cold Heart”, “Valerie”, and “Sexual Healing”, amongst many others. As the party danced the night away and everyone began to really feel the burn of dancing (and the drinks from the bar!), it was time to move on to the after party… and dance some more! By the time that the clock struck (an hour past) midnight, and everyone’s coaches turned back into pumpkins, the party could hardly protest. They had made so many incredible memories, and truly had had their fill of dancing, music, and overall merriment! The sun had long set on a perfect day, and Gurpreet and Nicole could not be happier–or more ready to spend the rest of their lives together!

Waiting For Love Is Worth It!

It’s pretty difficult to beat a classic country club wedding. Sure, there may not be much by sand in your toes, waves crashing nearby, and hot sun, but you’ve got fun that’s arguably more beautiful: rolling hills, classic architecture, and a cozy yet upscale vibe that truly inspires a party. Guests of the wedding of Emma and Connor enjoyed just this, as they got married this past Saturday! The wedding, nestled into the beautiful Milbrook Club, went off without a hitch, as we got to come along and play! The ceremony, serenaded to Coldplay hits such as “Yellow” and “Viva La Vida”, by our pianist was certainly joyous as Emma and Connor tied the knot, and made it official!

The next step was cocktails, where our jazz trio treated the party to some sweet tunes in the upstairs patio section of the club. Wining and dining was great, and the trio played some great, gentle jazz, perfect for mingling. But everyone was ready to cut a rug, and that meant that it was time for the reception to begin! As everyone took their seats, Emma and Connor entered to “Love Me Like You Do”, a true pop-jam! After the ball was rolling, it was time for the age old tradition of the first dance! As Emma and Connor spun around the floor to “Stand By Me” everyone looked on fondly. It was their first dance as husband and wife, after all!

By the time that the party had emotionally recovered, it was time to take on the Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances! Emma and her father shared a sweet moment as they danced around the floor to “Daughters”, and Connor and his mother danced to “Dream A Little Dream”, beautifully sung by Brian and Lauren! With so many tears shed, the party was in need of an energy boost, and what better way to boost the mood than with some dancing!

The party was ready to take to the dance floor and bust a move, and our A-List Band was ready to play! Fan favorites of the night included “Higher Love”, “The Middle”, and “Paris”, and everyone took part in line dances and freestyles alike! By the time that the final song played, “Waiting For Love“, and everyone was heading home, there was plenty of celebrations had, and plenty of memories made. For Emma and Conner, it was the absolute perfect day–and they couldn’t ask for anything more!

Finally Hitting the Top of the Waitlist

Here at Around Town Entertainment, we have a particular soft spot for engagements that came to be in the time of quarantine. There are so many beautiful stories about what went into the planning of the beginning of the rest of their lives. And Jessica and Shaun were no different! After seeing so many people get quarantine dogs, Jessica joking talked about getting one. So when Shaun proposed, he joked that he had a choice between a dog and an engagement ring–and because the waitlist was too long, they got engaged! By the time they made it to their special day, they were probably at the top of the waitlist. But that didn’t matter, because it was time to party!

The weekend started off without a hitch, with rosy warm weather, and clear skies. The Country Club in Waterbury was a perfect spot! With the ceremony off site, the party arrived to the country club ready for some drinks! Our cocktail trio, had a wonderful time underscoring the post-ceremony conversation with smooth, jazzy tunes. By the end of the cocktail hour, the entire party was ready for some dancing and dining!

With cocktail hour at an end, the party took their seats. The classic country club architecture was gorgeous overhead, as the happy couple, officially husband and wife, entered the party to “Family Affair”, beautifully sung by our very own Julia!  Before everyone else got the chance to cut a rug, it was time for the first dance. It was a lovely choice, “She’s My Kind of Rain”! Of course, there wasn’t a single dry eye in the house, but it was time to shed a few more with the parent and child dances! Jessica and Mark danced to “Always on My Mind”, and Shaun and Rita danced to “The Baby”! As a surprise, there was a special third dance for Jessica and her Mom, Helen! Together, they danced to “Because You Loved Me“.

With tears sufficiently shed, the party needed a boost–perhaps best served in the form of a sugar rush? As everyone made their way to the cake, the band treated them to “I Can’t Help Myself“. And boy, was the cake worth it! With a delicious break over, everyone else was ready to cut a rug. And a rug was indeed cut! There were so many highlights of the night, but the party particularly loved the band’s stellar performance of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love”, the band’s lead female vocalists’ killer riffs on “Faithfully”, and the big surprise of the night… songs sung by Mark! We were super excited for him to join us for not one, but two songs, “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Proud Mary“! After that, the night took off, and there was plenty more dancing!

As everyone spent the rest of the night dancing away, Jessica and Shaun spent the night dancing into their future. The amazing views, pretty weather, and awesome songs were of course great fun, but they were the real stars! After spending so long waiting for their happy ending, the waitlist spot finally arrived. And it was just as beautiful and sweet as they imagined. (And maybe one day, that dog can also be on the table!)

From Miles to Smiles

Mary Alice and Spencer met at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. They knew one another as classmates, then friends, and even co-editors until FINALLY they realized they were a perfect match! In 2015, they unexpectedly struck up a long-distance relationship that has crossed 5,542.62 miles between Connecticut, New York, Ohio, D.C. and Villa Maria, Argentina. In a turn of events, 2020 was remarkably less distant; Spencer, MA, and Mookie (their dog) probably spent 365 days within feet from one another. On one of those 365 days, over champagne and takeout ramen from their favorite DC restaurant, Spencer asked Mary Alice to marry him, and she said yes. Although they wouldn’t have anticipated this turn of events from when they were a freshman and sophomore at Kenyon, they couldn’t wait to get together with everyone to celebrate what an amazing trip it’s been, and all the adventures that will come next.

The beautiful couple got married at Riverside Yacht Club in Connecticut. Mary Alice and Spencer’s special day was beautifully captured by Eryc Perez de Tagle Photography! Everything was set in place on the big day by Sara W. Davis and Riverside Yacht Club. Before Mary Alice started down the aisle, the pianist from Around Town Entertainment played “The Wind” by Cat Stevens! Everyone saw Spencer first see Mary Alice start down the aisle, and everyone looked on with a smile. The two exchanged their vows and said their “I Do’s” and then skipped down the aisle singing along to one of their favorites, “Limelight” by Rush.

As everyone entered the reception room, the Altitude Band played the most perfect song to get the party started: “Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac. The bridal party skipped into the room jamming it out to the most requested wedding band in Connecticut, the Altitude Band. Spencer and Mary Alice had their first dance as husband and wife to “Bless The Telephone” by Labi Siffre as an ode to their once long-distance relationship, and the dance party kicked off!

The Altitude Band played many of Spencer and Mary Alice’s favorite songs throughout the night such as, “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra! It was truly a night to remember and we’re so happy to have been part of Spencer and Mary Alice’s special day extra memorable!
